1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

 

Welcome to digitaladvocacy.eu (the "Platform"), the official online hub for the "Digital Advocacy for Youth" (DAY) project1. This Platform is managed by the DAY Project Consortium ("we," "us," "our"), which is composed of the project partners listed in the official project documentation2. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

 

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," "your") and the DAY Project Consortium. These Terms govern your access to and use of the Platform, including any content, functionalities, and services offered, such as the educational toolkit, networking features, and online resources.

 

By accessing, Browse, registering for, or using this Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.

 

2. Description of Services

 

The Platform is an interactive online environment designed to empower young people and youth workers by enhancing their skills in digital advocacy. The services offered include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Education Zone: Access to a comprehensive report on digital advocacy, an educational toolkit, and other learning materials developed by the project.
     

  • Best Practices Zone: A collection of successful and remarkable advocacy campaigns led by young people6666.
     

  • Networking & Events Zone: A space for users to create profiles, connect with other young people, youth workers, and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and participate in online events like "Speed date meetings" and workshops.
     

  • Community Hub: A forum for exchanging ideas, sharing concerns, seeking guidance, and fostering a collaborative network focused on advocacy8888.
     

The materials and services on this Platform are provided free of charge for educational and networking purposes, in line with the project's objectives.


 

3. Eligibility and Account Registration

 

To use the interactive features of the Platform, you must register for an account. By registering, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 16 years old. If you are under the age of 18, you confirm you have received permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Platform.

  • You are a young person, youth worker, educator, researcher, or a representative of a non-governmental or Civil Society Organisation.

  • All information you provide during registration is accurate, current, and complete, and you will maintain and promptly update your information to keep it so.

  • You will keep your password confidential and are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to refuse registration or suspend/terminate an account, at our sole discretion, if it does not align with the project's target groups or if the information provided is found to be false.

 

4. User Conduct and Responsibilities

 

This Platform is dedicated to fostering active citizenship, civic engagement, and the promotion of common European values. All Users must adhere to the following strict rules of conduct. You agree

 

not to post, share, or transmit any content or engage in any activity that:

  • Is Unlawful or Harmful: Violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation. This includes content that is defamatory, fraudulent, or promotes illegal acts.

  • Is Hateful or Discriminatory: Promotes, incites, or engages in hate speech, discrimination, hostility, or violence against any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or any other characteristic.

  • Constitutes Harassment or Bullying: Includes harassing, abusing, stalking, threatening, or intimidating other Users.

  • Is Violent or Obscene: Contains graphic violence, sexually explicit material, or obscene content. The Platform is a professional and educational space.

  • Spreads Misinformation or Disinformation: Knowingly posts false, inaccurate, or misleading information, particularly if intended to deceive or manipulate others.

  • Infringes Intellectual Property: Violates the copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights of others.

  • Is Commercial or Promotional: Constitutes spam, junk mail, chain letters, or any form of unauthorized advertising or commercial solicitation. The promotion of for-profit services or products is strictly forbidden.

  • Is Politically Partisan: Uses the platform for partisan political campaigning for a specific political party. The focus of advocacy must be on issues, policies, and common causes, not party promotion1.
     

  • Violates Privacy: Publishes or posts other people's private and confidential information without their express authorization and consent.

  • Is Technically Disruptive: Contains software viruses, malware, or any other computer code, files, or programs designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit the functionality of any computer software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment.

  • Is Impersonation: Impersonates any person or entity or falsely states or otherwise misrepresents your affiliation with a person or entity.

Violation of these rules will result in immediate content removal and may lead to the suspension or permanent termination of your account at our sole discretion.

 

5. User-Generated Content (UGC)

 

You are solely responsible for the content you create, post, or share on the Platform ("User-Generated Content" or "UGC").

  • Ownership: You retain all ownership rights to your UGC.

  • License to the Platform: By submitting UGC to the Platform, you grant the DAY Project Consortium a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and perform the UGC in connection with operating, promoting, and developing the Platform and the Digital Advocacy for Youth project. This license allows us to feature your content on the site, in project reports, and in dissemination materials12.
     

  • Moderation: We do not pre-screen all UGC. However, we reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, review, and remove any UGC at any time and for any reason, including for violation of these Terms, without prior notice. The views expressed in UGC do not necessarily reflect the views of the DAY Project Consortium or the European Commission.

 

6. Intellectual Property Rights

 

All materials available on the Platform that are created by the DAY Project Consortium—including the educational toolkit, reports, software, text, graphics, logos, and visual identity—are the intellectual property of the Consortium and its partners and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use these materials solely for your personal, non-commercial, and educational purposes in line with the goals of the project.


 

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

 

  • Disclaimer of Warranties: The Platform and its services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The DAY Project Consortium makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the operation of the Platform or the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the content.

  • Disclaimer for User Interactions: You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Users and CSOs, both online and offline. The DAY Project Consortium is not a party to, and will not be liable for, any dispute, damage, or loss resulting from your interactions, including those arising from the "Speed date meetings" or other networking activities.
     

  • Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, the DAY Project Consortium and its partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Platform.

 

8. Privacy

 

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of your personal information are described in our Privacy Policy. By agreeing to these Terms, you also consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

 

9. Termination

 

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform and your account, at our sole discretion, without notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform will immediately cease.

 

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

 

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions, as the coordinating organisation is based there. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or the Platform shall be instituted exclusively in the courts of Oslo, Norway.


 

11. Changes to Terms

 

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect by posting a notice on the Platform or sending an email to our registered Users. Your continued use of the Platform after such changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
